INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
RDCPE is actively pursuing international collaboration initiatives with major foreign energy companies, and is a regular participant in international expos and conferences. International collaboration opens diverse opportunities for exchanging experiences with countries who have successfully deployed novel technologies in the electric power sector.
A key area of international collaboration initiatives encompasses projects implemented under the auspices of the bilateral Russian-American Presidential Commission. In 2010 the company began building partnerships with the U.S. government agencies and private sector engaged in smart grid work, and is now a permanent member of the Task Force on energy. In 2011 the company plans to continue its collaboration with the U.S. and launch new partnerships with the European Union countries.
2010 milestones in international collaboration:
On August 22 – 27 the Russian delegation headed by the honorary chairman of the International Council for Heavy Duty Electric Power Systems (CIGRE) took part in the 43rd Council session in Paris. RDCPE is a corporate member of the council, and many company employees hold longtime individual memberships. RDCPE was represented by seven leading experts of the company including P. S. Abakshin, T. V. Kupchikov, F. A. Polyakov, M. A. Rabinovich, P. V. Sokur, L. V. Timashova, and S. V. Chereshiuk.
CIGRE involvement provides the company with an opportunity to maintain ongoing dialogue with the leading experts in the CIS countries, Europe, the U.S. and other states and international organizations, obtain the latest information on prevailing trends and development issues in electric power energy sector, and incorporate international innovation experiences into its own work in a timely manner.
On September 11th, 2010 the company participated in the Canadian-Russian Energy Forum “Investment and Innovation Collaboration in the Energy Sector” held with the support from Russia’s Ministry of Energy under the auspices of the World Energy Congress (WEC-2010). RDCPE representatives attended the forum, made a number of visits to the energy facilities and met with Canadian public and private sector entities.
On October 18th through 21st, 2010 the company participated in the international energy forum GridWeek 2010 held with the support of the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. The conference proceedings focused on smart grid issues and its future development. First deputy director general T. V. Kupchikov presented a report titled “Development of Smart Grid Systems in Russia” during the “Smart Grid Applications – International Review” session.
